As a part of our content integrity and editorial policy, we are committed to helping our readers in a good manner. It truly matters how we are delivering information since it’s going to leave an impact. Therefore, we have defined our language approach and that is ‘Natural Language’.
Natural language can be different from community to community, however, on this page, we have defined what is Natural Language for us and why it means to our editorial community.
What is Natural Language for us?
At Digital Setups, we try to be natural as we could while still respecting the regional and cultural language standards.
For example, an article could be read by an American and a Pakistani, therefore, we’ll avoid using ‘Oh! F***! This S**t is a scam and they have taken the money.’ Instead, we will say: ‘Unfortunately, this business does scam activities and they have taken money from several victims.’ This makes sense to both communities.
While being natural in the use of language, we might be optimistic, formal, informal, friendly, assertive, cooperative, collaborative, encouraging, surprised, curious, worried, funny, and/or thoughtful – still respecting all communities’ cultural norms. That’s what makes us a human and supporters of human fundamental well-being.
Why does our defined Natural Language mean to us?
We’re living in a digital world where we mostly talk with videos, written content, and other visuals. It’s a kind of one-way communication that triggers difficulty in understanding the right context and hence, the impact could be simply unexpected.
We believe in a natural relationship with everyone for being a human. Besides formalities and laws, we all have the right to talk in a natural way.
Yeah, there are some situations where we must abide by the laws of the community we’re talking in.
For example, if abuse is common and natural in a certain community, this doesn’t mean abusing is right while talking to a person or group from another community where abuse is considered hurtful or simply wrong. Mutual respect is another right, so we should cover that too while talking to each other.
We are against using disrespectful terms while guiding, mentoring, contributing knowledge, motivating, or simply talking. Unfortunately, these days, using disrespectful, immoral, or bullying-style terms are getting popularity among industry leaders, motivational speakers, and even tutors. We simply want to change that rising trend and add respect for all communities.
Our Language considerations in action
To help you understand how we implement our natural language model in our content, we have shared some examples below.
Example 1:
General: SEO for noobs
We say: SEO for beginners
Explanation: noob word is identifying a person as a noob which may leave an impact on the reader as if the author knows way more than him, he is just a noob, and it will take a long-time to learn everything in SEO. We don’t want to leave this impact, however, we do want the reader to understand that they’re on right track and it’s the beginning for it. Another thing is that it is not leaving superiority-identity to the author.
Example 2:
General: If you are a lazy person, you might not achieve the business target within the expected timeline.
We say: It’s important to stay consistent with our investment of time and effort since it drives results within our expected timeframe.
Explanation: our goal is to push the reader to consider timely work important. We do not want to hit the person with any of their habit (if exists). We simply want to convey that time is important if we want to drive results. There is no purpose in identifying a person as lazy since this might leave an impact on people with lazy habits that they cannot achieve business goals. This will immediately distract their mind to focus on building plans or getting back to work since they’ll always consider themselves lazy and might not build good hopes to get results timely. We do not want this, instead, any person with lazy habits – or not – should be consistent with time to achieve expected results – no matter who you are and how you are living right now, you can do it, just consider consistency. That’s it.
